NGS Roadshows
The NGS roadshows are designed to give an introduction to the NGS and the services that we offer. Tailored to your institution's needs, a series of short presentations explain how to join the NGS, how to gain access to the resources on offer, how to run jobs and the types of training on offer to be able to fully utilise the NGS. Current NGS users are also invited to come along and demonstrate the impact that the NGS has had on their research and how NGS resources can be used effectively within a real research environment.
"Hands on" training can also be incorporated into the event with a half day training session following lunch or a full day training session the day after the roadshow just two of the options available.
The NGS can also arrange for a “Roaming RA” service (if your institution does not already have one) to be available on the day (subject to staff availability and internet connection) where participants at the roadshow can obtain a grid certificate there and then as long as they bring along photo ID and a USB stick. This is the first step in gaining access to NGS resources.
The roadshows are designed to be run with a minimal amount of effort from local organisers. Local organisers are responsible for booking a venue, assisting with catering details and helping to advertise the event within their institution. The NGS will arrange the agenda, organise speakers, take care of registration and provide lcatering. The cost of catering, speakers expenses etc will be covered by the NGS.
These events can be tailored exactly to your requirements and roadshows in several different formats have already been given. Have a browse through the past roadshow section and if you have any further questions or if you'd like to discuss having an event at your institution, contact the NGS Liaison Officer.
The next NGS roadshow will take place at the University of York on the 20th of April. For further details please see the event page.
